Ceri Muller

I sat down (virtually) with Ceri Muller, an incredible artist I found on Instagram. As we speak I am waiting for one of her beautiful pieces titled "Chocolate Bulb" to arrive to my casa in Mallorca. Ceri has a very unique style of ceramics working so beautifully with a signature texture. I instantly fell in love.

Here's what we chatted about...

WHO:  Ceri Muller.

NATIONALITY:  South African.

CURRENT LOCATION: Cape Town, South Africa.

RESTAURANT: Clarkes on Bree Street.

STORE: The pottery supply store.

BEACH: Bakoven Beach.

BAR: mmm… my studio :)

CREATIVES: Alexis Christodoulou @teaaalexis.

BEST PLACE TO TRAVEL: The Greek Islands (Sifnos & Milos).

MOST PRIZED POSSESSION: My engagement ring. It’s the most beautiful thing.

WHO YOU'RE MOST INSPIRED BY: No one person, just the all of the South African creatives out there who keep doing what they do. Making things, creating jobs, keeping going despite the challenges..

WHAT YOU DO: I am an artist.

THE DEFINING MOMENT THAT LED YOU TO BE AN ARTIST: No moment really, just a long slow burner of self-help podcasts and talking at infinitum with my fiancé and best friend Alexis. Building up enough strength and self-belief to take the risk. The penny dropped at some point along the way and I knew. It was more of a slow and painful spiritual awakening.

WHEN YOU'RE NOT CREATING, YOU ARE: Talking about work. Going for walks.

IF YOU WEREN'T AN ARTIST YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN: I honestly can’t think of anything.

THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR CAREER: 1. An overly practical brain and an aversion to risk. 2. Putting myself out there on social media consistently.
